AYHL - Fall/Winter 2023/2024 - 2018-2015 YOB

The AYHL evaluation process is designed to reduce stress on both players and families. Evaluations are conducted by our evaluations team, eliminating any volunteer requirements. Our sort skates are designed to avoid 'spotlight' drills and discourage puck hogging to showcase skills.

EVALUATION SKATES WILL OCCUR

September 16th - Skills & Drills

September 17th - 3on3 games

September 23th - Evaluation Tournament mini Games 

September 30 - Teams are set and practices begin 

PHASE 1 - PRE QUALIFYING

During the registration process, parents and previous coaches may be asked to provide input on their child's skill level compared to their peer group.

PHASE 2 - EVALUATIONS

Based on the AHYL's 8 point scoring matrix, the evaluation committee will evaluate and rank players during practice and game skates. There will be NO single "spotlight" drill evaluations.

PHASE 3 - TEAM CREATION

Players will be divvied up equally in order to create league parity. A mini-tournament will then be held to "test league parity". Player movements will once again occur if necessary, with coaching and evaluator input.
